Platform Terms of Service

Version 0.1 · 1 September 2026 · Ethics reference 9698

1. The service

The service is the secure digital environment associated with AIAugmentedEducation.com that supports participant registration, research data capture, educator learning activities, project communication and, when approved for deployment, AI-supported educational interactions for the AI-Augmented Pre- and In-Service Teacher Education for Inclusive Sexuality Education project.

2. Cost

There is no subscription fee or usage charge for approved project participants. The service does not require payment-card details as a condition of access.

3. Authorised users

The secure service is intended for users approved under the project. Account access is personal and role-based. Users may not sell, transfer, share or lend their access credentials.

4. AI assistant and automated features

The platform may provide a lightweight educator AI assistant through a secure technical integration. The assistant is intended to support learning, critical reflection, planning and exploration of inclusive sexuality-education scenarios. It is not an autonomous decision-maker and should not make employment, academic, disciplinary, clinical or other high-stakes decisions about participants or third parties.

5. Limitations of AI output

  • AI output can be wrong, incomplete, inconsistent or culturally inappropriate.

  • AI systems may reproduce bias present in training data or in the framing of a prompt.

  • Users must verify factual, curricular, policy and legal claims before relying on them.

  • AI output does not replace professional educator judgement, approved curricula, institutional policy or human facilitation.

  • Where the platform provides citations, references or factual claims, users should verify the underlying source rather than assuming the AI has checked it.

6. Do not enter identifiable learner or third-party data

Users must not place names, ID/passport numbers, contact details, identifiable school-case descriptions, health/psychological information, disciplinary information, images, documents or other personal data about learners, children, colleagues or third parties into the AI assistant unless the approved research protocol specifically permits it and all required consent/permission safeguards are in place. Use hypothetical, de-identified or composite scenarios instead.

7. Research use of platform interactions

Platform interactions, including AI prompts and responses, may only be treated as research data where this is specifically described in the approved research protocol and participant information/consent documents. Creating an account or using the service does not silently convert every interaction into research data.

8. Safety, dignity and sensitive subject matter

Users should not use AI features to create content that humiliates, threatens or discriminates against individuals or groups. Because the project addresses sexuality, gender diversity and inclusion, prompts and responses may involve sensitive topics; the platform should be used in a way that protects participant dignity and supports respectful professional learning.

9. Technical monitoring and security

The service may record authentication, security, error and usage metadata necessary to operate the platform, investigate incidents and maintain research-system integrity. Access to administrative logs should be limited to authorised personnel. Research use of these logs requires separate ethical justification where they identify or profile participants.

10. External service providers

Hosting, email, security and AI/API functions may involve approved third-party service providers. The final service configuration must document which providers are used, what data each receives, where processing occurs and what retention/training settings apply. Personal information should be minimised and protected through appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.

11. Participant content and intellectual property

Participants retain rights in their original contributions. By submitting content to the platform, participants permit the system to store and process it to provide the service and, where separately consented, for the approved research purposes. This permission is not intended to create a commercial right to sell participant contributions.

12. Service changes and availability

Features may change as the project is tested and refined. Material changes to research data collection, AI processing or participant risk should be reviewed through the relevant research-governance process before deployment. The service may be unavailable during maintenance or security incidents.

13. Account closure and withdrawal

A participant may request account closure through the support or research contact. Account closure and withdrawal from research are related but distinct processes: closing an account does not automatically determine what happens to already collected research data, and research withdrawal does not always require immediate account deletion. The approved consent documentation should explain the applicable process.

14. No warranty or professional advice

The platform is provided for research and educational purposes. No guarantee is made that AI or educational content will be error-free or suitable for every teaching context. Nothing on the platform constitutes legal, medical, psychological or other regulated professional advice to a learner or third party.
