Website Terms & Conditions
1. Purpose and scope
These Terms & Conditions apply to access to and use of AIAugmentedEducation.com and related project pages, registration functions and participant-facing resources for the AI-Augmented Pre- and In-Service Teacher Education for Inclusive Sexuality Education project.
2. Free access - no subscription or payment
The project platform is not a paid subscription service. No membership fee, purchase, checkout or payment-card information is required as a condition of creating an approved project account or participating in project activities. If the research separately provides an approved reimbursement, refreshment, travel arrangement or incentive, that arrangement is governed by the approved research documents and not by these website terms.
3. Eligibility and authorised access
Access may be limited to people who meet the project eligibility criteria and who have been invited or approved by the research team. This draft assumes adult pre-service and in-service educator participants. The project team may require verification of role or institutional affiliation where this is necessary for authorised access.
4. Research consent is separate
Accepting these Terms & Conditions allows you to use the website and account functions; it does not, by itself, constitute informed consent to participate in research. Research consent must be obtained through the separate ethics-approved participant information and consent process. You may decline research participation without entering into a paid obligation because access is not sold as a service.
5. Accounts and security
-
Provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably up to date.
-
Keep passwords and authentication details confidential and do not share accounts.
-
Notify the support team if you believe your account has been compromised.
-
Do not attempt to bypass role-based access controls, security features or research access restrictions.
6. Acceptable use and respectful participation
The project addresses sensitive sexuality-education and inclusion topics. Users are expected to engage professionally and respectfully, including where views differ. The platform must not be used to harass, threaten, discriminate against, dox, shame or target another person or group.
7. Prohibited information and content
-
Do not enter identifiable learner, child, colleague, parent or other third-party information into AI prompts or open-text activities unless explicitly authorised by the approved protocol.
-
Do not upload unlawful content, malicious code, credentials belonging to others, or material that infringes intellectual-property rights.
-
Do not use the platform to generate discriminatory, abusive or exploitative material or to facilitate harm.
-
Do not attempt to identify other research participants from anonymised or pseudonymised information.
8. Educational and AI content
AI-generated content and project learning materials are intended to support reflection, learning and educator development. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or biased. Users remain responsible for critically evaluating content and applying professional, curricular and institutional judgement before using it in educational practice.
9. Intellectual property
Project-owned website content, branding, software, curated learning resources and original project materials remain the property of their respective rights holders and may not be copied or commercially redistributed without permission. Participants retain rights in their own original contributions, subject to the limited processing and research uses described in the informed-consent materials. Research participation should not require participants to grant a broad commercial licence over their contributions.
10. Research outputs
Where participant contributions form part of the approved dataset, they may be analysed and reported in anonymised, de-identified or aggregated form as described in the participant information and consent documents. Direct quotations or case descriptions must be handled in accordance with the approved confidentiality and consent arrangements.
11. Availability, changes and maintenance
The project team may update, suspend or temporarily interrupt parts of the platform for security, maintenance, research-design changes or institutional requirements. Reasonable efforts will be made to preserve research integrity and avoid unnecessary disruption, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
12. Suspension or termination of access
Access may be restricted where necessary to protect participants, research integrity, data security, intellectual property or lawful operation of the platform. Where access is linked to active research participation, any suspension should be handled consistently with the ethics-approved protocol and without using access restrictions to coerce continued participation.
13. Privacy and data protection
Use of personal and research information is governed by the Privacy Policy, the ethics-approved participant information and consent documents, and applicable data-protection requirements. Where these website terms conflict with the approved research-consent documents on a research-data issue, the ethically approved research documentation should govern that research use.
14. No guarantee of educational outcome
The platform does not guarantee a particular change in knowledge, attitude, professional practice, academic outcome or teaching result. Participation in the intervention is educational and research-oriented and does not replace official training, institutional policy, legal advice, psychological services or professional supervision.
15. Applicable law and institutional requirements
The platform is developed in South Africa and is subject to applicable South African law, including POPIA where relevant, together with UNISA research-governance requirements. Because the study includes other Southern African jurisdictions, local institutional permissions and applicable country-specific requirements must also be observed.
16. Contact and changes
Questions about these terms may be sent to policy@AIAugmentedEducation.com. Technical questions may be sent to Support@AIAugmentedEducation.com. Material changes affecting research participation should be reviewed against the ethics approval before implementation.
